Squad registration and eligibility limit monitor
Problem
Squad size caps, age-eligibility slots and loan or dual-registration limits are tracked in a spreadsheet tab the team administrator updates by hand whenever a signing, loan or release happens. The tab is only as current as the last edit, and during a transfer window several changes can happen in a single day across different conversations. A registration gets submitted to the league system, the slot has already gone, and the whole squad list has to be reworked at the deadline instead of before it. The people who need to know a limit is close, the coach weighing up a trial signing, the operations manager approving a loan, usually find out from the rejection rather than from the administrator.
Product idea
A live board that reads the current squad list and shows each registration category, total squad size, age-restricted slots, loan and dual-registration slots, against the limit set for that competition under the relevant national governing body registration and affiliation rules. Every addition, release or loan move updates the count immediately. Each category shows green, amber or red, and crossing an amber threshold sends a named alert to the team administrator and team operations manager rather than waiting for someone to check. It does not decide who to sign or release. It only tells the people making that call how much room is left, before they act rather than after.
Who it is for
Team administrators who track registrations, team operations managers who approve signings and loans, and assistant coaches weighing up a trial or emergency addition against the squad limits that would block it.
Possible first version
A manually maintained roster, added, edited or uploaded as a CSV, checked against a configured set of limits per competition: squad size, age-restricted slots, loan and dual-registration slots. A status board shows each category's count against its limit, colour coded, with an email alert when a category crosses an amber threshold. Limit values are entered by an administrator rather than pulled from a governing body system. There is no direct connection to any league registration portal in version one; submission still happens there separately.

Questions we get asked
What do we need to give it on day one to make it useful?
The current squad list and the limit values for each category in each competition you play in, both entered manually at the start. There is no feed from a governing body system in version one, so the limits are only as accurate as what your administrator types in. Once that is set up, updating the roster as players are added, released or loaned is what keeps the board current.
Does this replace our squad list spreadsheet?
Not at first. The spreadsheet stays the working record of who is on the squad; this board reads from it and turns the limit checking into something visible instead of something someone has to remember to do. If the board proves itself, teams sometimes move the roster into it directly, but that is a later decision, not a day one requirement.
Our administrator already knows the limits. Why do we need a board for it?
One person holding the numbers in their head works until two or three people are acting on the same day: a coach lining up a trial, an operations manager approving a loan, the administrator handling a release, none of them checking with each other first. The board exists for that overlap, not to replace what the administrator already knows.
Who has to maintain this once it exists?
The team administrator, who already owns the registration numbers. The ongoing work is keeping the roster entries current and updating the limit values when a competition's rules change between seasons. It is a smaller job than rebuilding the spreadsheet check each time, but it is not zero, and if nobody updates the limits the board will alert on the wrong numbers.

- Fixture congestion squad depth simulatorA scenario tool that projects squad depth across a congested run of fixtures against rest rules, showing where a position group would fall short before the block starts.
- Kit and equipment issue-and-return workflowA workflow that replaces the kit manager's notebook with a request-issue-return ledger, flagging outstanding items automatically before travel dates and season-end stocktakes.
- Late-availability squad change cascadeA workflow that updates the travel manifest, kit list and matchday squad sheet the moment a player's availability changes, and tells only the people who need to act.
