Diagnostic assistant for recurring soft-tissue injury patterns
Problem
When the same type of injury keeps recurring, usually soft tissue, usually around the same point in a fixture block, performance staff sense the pattern before they can prove it. Proving it means pulling GPS exports, wellness scores, force plate results and medical notes from four separate logins and lining them up by hand in a spreadsheet, usually the week before a board meeting or an insurer asks. The exercise is redone from scratch every time because nobody owns it between incidents, and by the time the analysis exists, the conclusion is an argument backed by one person's spreadsheet rather than a documented, reviewable case.
Product idea
An assistant that sits across the existing load, wellness, testing and medical systems and, when asked about a given injury or a recurring pattern, tests it against known risk factors: acute:chronic workload ratio spikes, wellness score dips in the preceding days, fixture congestion, prior injury to the same area, deviation from a testing baseline. It returns a ranked list of candidate contributing factors with the underlying data attached, not a single answer. It deliberately does not produce a medical diagnosis, does not decide whether an athlete is fit to train, and does not act on its own findings: the output is a reviewable hypothesis for medical and performance staff to weigh, with citations to the data behind each one.
Where the AI agent does the work
What the agent removes is the rebuild: today the same review gets reconstructed from scratch each time a pattern looks worth investigating, because nobody owns it between incidents and the method depends on who has time that week. Running the same fixed set of checks against load, wellness, testing and medical records every time it is asked means the analysis is no longer one person's spreadsheet built the week before a board meeting; it is a documented, reviewable case with the supporting data attached, available on request rather than assembled under deadline whenever an insurer or selection meeting forces the question.

Possible first version
A tool that takes manually exported CSVs of load, wellness and injury records for a squad, lets a user select an injury or a pattern across several, and returns a ranked list of candidate factors with the supporting data points shown alongside each one. Covers a fixed set of known risk factors rather than open-ended reasoning. Out of scope for version one: any live connection to the GPS, wellness or medical platforms, and any automated alerting before an injury has already occurred.

Does this tell us what caused an injury?
No. It surfaces which recorded factors, workload spikes, wellness dips, prior history, correlate with the injury and shows the data behind each one. Causation in an individual athlete is a clinical judgement, made by medical staff who know the athlete, not something a correlation tool can assert. Treat the output as a starting point for that review, not its conclusion.
We already keep a spreadsheet for this after every serious injury. Why build something?
A spreadsheet built after the fact usually only covers the one incident someone had time to investigate, and the method varies each time depending on who built it. This applies the same set of checks every time, so a pattern across several injuries over a season is visible without someone rebuilding the analysis from scratch each time it looks worth asking about.
What data does it need on day one?
Historical exports covering load, wellness and injury records for the period under review, and testing baselines if you want deviation included as a factor. It works from whatever export you already have. The quality of the ranking depends on how complete that history is; a squad with patchy wellness logging will get thinner evidence on that factor, and the tool should say so rather than filling the gap.
Who is responsible for it once it exists?
Typically the Head of Performance owns which risk factors are included and who can request an analysis, and medical staff remain responsible for anything acted on downstream. It is not a system that runs unattended: someone has to request the review, read the evidence, and decide what changes. Left unowned, it becomes a report nobody asked for.
