Football Scouting Software for Clubs and Academies
Problem
Football recruitment teams often have player observations spread across scouting databases, spreadsheets, emails and shared documents. Reports arrive in different formats, repeat assessments are hard to spot, and a head of recruitment can spend hours reconstructing what the club already knows about a player. The problem is not a lack of scouting judgement. It is that the organisation's existing judgement is difficult to search, compare and act on.
Product idea
A football scouting software layer that combines scout assignments, structured report intake, prospect history search and comparison in one workflow. Scouts can submit or forward observations, the system matches them against existing prospects, and recruitment staff can ask natural-language questions across historical reports with citations back to the source. For a shortlisted player, the platform shows who watched them, when, the verdicts recorded, where opinions diverge and whether another assessment is overdue. A pitchside lookup mode gives scouts a fast answer on what is already known before they create another report. The system supports human scouting decisions; it does not decide who a club should sign.
Where the AI agent does the work
A head of recruitment currently loses hours reconstructing what the club already knows about a player by checking a database, a spreadsheet and an inbox in turn. The agent answers that question directly: asked about a prospect, it searches every past report across scouts and seasons and returns who watched them, what was recorded, and where verdicts diverge, each claim linked back to its source report. Pitchside, the same lookup turns into a fast check before a scout writes another observation, so a duplicate assessment gets caught before it is written rather than discovered later during a shortlist review. It surfaces what scouts have already judged; it does not judge a player itself.
Who it is for
Professional clubs, academies, collegiate programmes and women's teams that already collect scout reports but struggle to coordinate assignments, search report history and compare assessments across scouts and seasons.
Possible first version
Start with CSV/document upload rather than replacing the existing scouting database. Ingest prospect records and past reports, extract agreed fields, support player-history search with source links, add a scout assignment board, duplicate/near-match confirmation, and side-by-side comparison of multiple reports on the same player. Add a simple pitchside mobile lookup. Live vendor integrations, predictive player rankings and automated signing recommendations stay out of version one.

What is football scouting software?
Football scouting software helps recruitment teams organise player observations, scout assignments, reports, shortlists and historical prospect information. This concept focuses on the workflow around human scouting reports rather than replacing scouts with an automated player ranking model.
Does this replace Wyscout, Catapult or another scouting database?
Not necessarily. A first version can sit above exports from the tools and spreadsheets a club already uses, making internal reports searchable and easier to compare. A club should only consider deeper integration or replacement after the workflow proves useful.
Can it compare reports from different scouts?
Yes, provided the club defines a shared reference scale where numerical ratings differ. The software can show ratings and written verdicts side by side and highlight disagreement, but it should not hide the underlying reports behind a single unexplained score.
Can scouts use it from the ground?
A mobile lookup can show the latest report, current watch status and prior observers before a scout writes another assessment. Offline and low-connectivity behaviour should be designed around the venues the club actually uses.
